Former Arsenal midfielder, Paul Merson has predicted that Antonio Conte’s Chelsea will have an easy victory over Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Merson is backing Conte’s men to put pressure on Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the top-four race with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield when both sides clash tomorrow at the Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea were 1-0 winners against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge over the weekend after striker, Olivier Giroud netted a first-half winner on Sunday evening.
Huddersfield managed to hold Premier League champions, Manchester City to a goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium last weekend.
“Huddersfield worked really hard on Sunday at Man City, but Chelsea HAVE to win this football match otherwise Sunday’s win against Liverpool will be pointless and just goes out the window,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“So I think Chelsea will win this 2-0, but this is a big game for them to put pressure on Spurs and Liverpool.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool are still sitting three points ahead of Chelsea with a vastly superior goal difference, while Tottenham have a two-point cushion over the West London club.
Chelsea will take on bitter rivals, Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.
